Metallica's Orion Music And More Festival is currently underway at Belle Isle in Detroit, where the heavy metal legends had a big surprise in store for attendees today. At press time, the band is in the midst of performing their debut album, 1983's Kill 'Em All in its entirety at one of the event's smaller stages.
A band no one seemed to know anything about called "dehaan" were set to play the event's Vans Damage Inc. Stage this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Apparently there was a reason no one had heard of them as they don't exist. Instead, Metallica took the stage for a surprise set. And this is no ordinary set as the band is reeling off songs from Kill 'Em All one-by-one including classics like "Hit The Lights," "Seek & Destroy" and "No Remorse."
From the looks of tweets coming in from Orion, it seems attendees are figuring out what's going on and those who weren't already there are running over to the Vans Damage Inc. Stage.
