Chief Keef is one of those magical things about music that defy explanation and move mountains. He is a huge force with lots of attention, yet he doesn’t seem to make much sense outside of the south side of Chicago. He’s not a lyrical genius or even very envelope-pushing musically (he can’t even catch this beat), but he gets shout-outs and support from people like Chance the Rapper and Kanye West. He’s just the guy the city wants to put on, and he’s putting it on right back. He is exactly the product and embodiment of his environment, so why argue with it?
Anyway, here is his latest single, because we are about it, even if it is kind of bad. So much autotune, so much youthful swag. We love it.
