Legendary jazz-rock icons
Walter Becker and
Donald Fagen kicked off their
latest
Steely Dan tour
last night at Revel Ovation Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. The first stop of the band's Mood
Swings: 8 Miles To Pancake Day Tour, which will make over four dozen stops throughout
North America, featured a setlist that drew from each of the pair's '70s studio albums
with the exception of
Katy Lied. Rarities included "Your Gold Teeth," Fagen's "New
Frontier," "Green Book" off 2003's
Everything Must Go and "Razor Boy."
While The Dan played plenty of hits on opening night such as "Hey Nineteen," "Josie,"
"Reelin In The Years" and "Kid Charlemagne," there were plenty of the band's best known
songs that didn't make last night's set including "FM," "Rikki Don't Lose That Number,"
"Do It Again" and "Dirty Work." Becker and Fagen were backed by an 11-piece band
throughout the night.
