Among the 1,180 names awarded on the Queen's Birthday Honours List are Adele and PJ Harvey, the former for the success (read: the continued success) of her 2011 '21' album, the latter for the critical acclaim of her most recent 'Let England Shake' record and all those that preceded it.
Both artists have had their fair share of awards. Polly Harvey won the 2011 Mercury Prize (the only artist to have won the gong twice), while Adele's likely had to purchase a new property to stock-keep all her trophies in. She picked up a remarkable six grammies in 2012. '21' has so far sold almost 7 million copies in the UK.
The artists were awarded MBEs for their "services to music."
Other music-based appearances on the honours list include one Aled Jones, and Suzanne Ball, chief executive officer of the Attitude Is Everything charity, which gives the disabled and impaired access to concerts through exciting initiatives.
